Why I Bought A Berkey Water Purifier

When I moved to Nashville, one of the first things I had on my "to do" list was to get a Berkey® Water Purifier and Heirloom Seeds. Cognizant of the state of affairs of our nation and the severe Earth changes that are taking place, I wanted to be absolutely sure that my family did not lack potable water and food, should a national or worldwide water and food emergency occur. 

I have always been an advocate for self-sufficiency, and getting off the grid and living off the land was also on my list of things to do, but that was towards the bottom of the list. Then I realized that the quality of bottled water was also questionable. We really do not know what is in that water. Some of the water in the expensive bottles has been declared regular tap water. If it is indeed regular tap water, then it most likely has all the impurities that regular tap water has. Whether the bottles contain spring water or tap water, we run into the dangers of the toxins in the plastic leaching into the water.

            Most of us who are readiing this article are conscientious about what we put in our bodies. We read the chicken packages to see if the chicken was raised without antibiotics and/or hormones. We scrutinize the egg cartons to find out if the eggs come from cage-free, grain fed hens.  We pick organic fruits and vegetables and spend more money on produce from whole foods or other organic sellers. Yet, do we know what is in the water we drink? When we have our Starbucks, or drink our tea, do we know where that water came from and what is in it?

           When I found out, I was not only angry because I had had no say so as to what was being put in my water, but I was angry because the chemicals and other toxins were now in my body causing a health risk. Even worse, the toxins were in the bodies of my children! I began to investigate by buying books on the subject and getting as much knowledge in this subject as possible; and the more I read, the more shocked I became. Not only is there a shortage of drinkable water on the planet, but the water that is available contains chemicals like Fluoride, Chlorine, Aluminum Sulfate, Chromium, Mercury, Pharmaceuticals, Antibiotics, Hormones and Pesticides. The pipes carrying the water further add toxins like Lead and Cadmium, Copper and other toxic metals. So, since we cannot live without water and the water supply is toxic, and most of the bottled water quality is questionable and with hefty prices, I opted to buy the best water purifier designed to help correct the water dilemma I was facing, the Berkey® Water Purifier with the Black Berkey® Elements.
